Canine Behaviour Modification & Dog Training Services in Brixton, SW2
Whether you're dealing with a reactive dog, a boisterous puppy, or a long-standing behavioural issue that hasn't responded to other approaches — you're in the right place.
At South London Dog Training, every service is delivered personally by me. I’m a Level 4 certified canine behaviourist, experienced dog trainer and former psychotherapist based near Brockwell Park in Brixton, SW2.
What makes my approach different is simple: I work with both ends of the lead. Dogs don't behave in isolation — their behaviour is shaped by the relationship they have with you. By drawing on over 11+ years of psychotherapy alongside deep expertise in canine behaviour, I will help you understand your dog, communicate more clearly, and build the kind of relationship where good behaviour happens naturally.
All sessions are one-on-one, tailored to your dog's specific needs, and supported with ongoing guidance between appointments.
Dog Behaviour Modification & Obedience Training
The most effective way to resolve behavioural issues — for good. If your dog is struggling with reactivity, aggression, excessive barking, separation anxiety, lead pulling, fear, biting, nipping or poor recall, behaviour modification is where we start.
Unlike standard obedience training, behaviour modification looks at why your dog is behaving the way they are — and addresses the root cause, not just the symptom. Combined with practical obedience work, this approach produces lasting results.
How it works:
We begin with a structured two-step initial process:
Step 1 — Diagnostic Consultation (1 hour)
A thorough assessment covering your dog's history, environment, triggers, behaviour, diet, exercise, medical history and much more — because no two dogs, and no two owners, are the same. Through a detailed personality and communication profile, we explore how you interact with your dog, how well they listen to you, and whether there's a genuine sense of respect between you. Most owners are surprised by how much this reveals. The goal is a complete picture of your unique situation, so the right training approach and techniques can be put in place from the outset.
Step 2 — Practical Training Session (1 hour)
With a clear understanding of your dog and your dynamic together, we get straight to work. This hands-on session puts the findings of the consultation into action — building new habits, establishing clearer communication, and laying the foundations for lasting change from day one.
Sessions typically take place at my home near Brockwell Park — a calm, secure environment ideal for focused early learning. As your dog progresses, sessions move into real-world settings including Brockwell Park itself, introducing the distractions and social situations your dog needs to navigate in daily life.
Follow-up sessions are 1–1.5 hours and are scheduled 1–2 weeks apart to allow time for practice and consolidation. Most clients complete their goals within 4–6 hours of one-on-one time.
Issues I commonly work with:
Reactivity to dogs or people · Lead pulling · Lunging · Planting/Freezing on walks · Aggression · Separation anxiety · Excessive barking · Excessive whining · Over attachment · Fear and phobias · Poor recall · Resource guarding · Jumping up · Biting or nipping · Destructive behaviour · Socialisation · General disobedience · Obedience training · Human-dog bonding · Owner confidence
Pricing: £80/hour - Weekdays
£90/hour - Weekends
Sessions are priced individually and packages are tailored to your dog's needs. Contact me to discuss the right plan for you.
After just a short training session, this big pulling reactive dog is now manageable, and walks are enjoyable.

Puppy Training & Advice
Get the foundations right from day one.
Getting a puppy is one of the most exciting things you can do — and one of the most overwhelming. The decisions you make in those first weeks have a lasting impact on your dog's behaviour, confidence and relationship with you.
I provide personalised puppy guidance designed around your specific home, your lifestyle, and your puppy's individual temperament. Whether you're a first-time dog owner or you've had dogs before, there's always more to learn — and getting expert support early saves an enormous amount of stress down the line.
What's covered:
From setting up your home before your puppy arrives to crate training, toilet training and socialisation, I'll guide you through everything that matters in those early weeks. We'll cover loose lead walking, basic obedience and building good habits from the start — as well as age-appropriate exercise, diet and feeding routines, and how to manage introductions to children, other pets or an existing dog.
Sessions available:
In person at my home in Brixton or your home (travel fees may apply)
Video consultations available for remote support
Pricing: £80/hour - Weekdays
£90/hour - Weekends
Dog Board & Train: Intensive Results
Intensive training. Real results. Your dog comes home transformed.
Board & Train is the most intensive — and fastest — way to address behavioural issues or build solid obedience foundations. Your dog stays with me for an agreed number of days and receives structured, professional training from morning to evening in a calm, home environment.
This is ideal for owners who:
Have busy schedules that make weekly sessions difficult to commit to
Have a dog with complex or deeply embedded behavioural challenges
Want to see significant progress in a short period of time
Are preparing for a specific situation (a new baby, a house move, a new dog)
What your dog receives:
Your dog stays in my spacious ground-floor flat near Brockwell Park, Brixton — complete with a secure private garden that's perfect for training. It's a calm, home-from-home environment, not a kennel.
Each day includes:
Full-day structured training and behaviour work
A consistent routine providing the security that dogs need to learn effectively
Socialisation appropriate to your dog's needs and progress
Daily walks in and around Brockwell Park
Scheduled meals and rest periods
Daily progress updates so you always know how your dog is getting on
At the end of the programme, I will walk you through everything your dog has learned and how to maintain it at home — because the handover is just as important as the training itself.
Pricing: £240/day
The length of the programme is agreed in advance based on your dog's needs and your goals. Get in touch to discuss what's right for you.
I'm based near Brockwell Park in Brixton, SW2, and work with dog owners across South London— including Herne Hill, Clapham, Balham, Streatham, Tooting, Dulwich, East Dulwich, Crystal Palace, Forest Hill, Peckham, Camberwell, Norwood, Westminster, Tulse Hill, Stockwell, Vauxhall, Kennington, Battersea & Wandsworth. Home visits are available (travel fees may apply beyond a certain distance), and video consultations are available nationwide.
Daycare with Training Included
This isn't your typical dog daycare. Every dog in my care receives structured obedience training and loose lead work throughout the day — not just a place to sit and wait.
Your dog will enjoy daily walks, scheduled meals, playtime, and plenty of engagement — all delivered by a qualified canine behaviourist. I keep numbers deliberately small, with a maximum of three dogs at any one time, so every dog gets real attention and consistent handling.
It's the ideal option for owners who want their dog to come home tired, happy — and better behaved.
Pricing: £70/day (7 hours)
