Tulse Hill is one of those quietly excellent parts of South London that dog owners discover and never want to leave. Bordered by Brixton, Herne Hill, Streatham and West Norwood, it sits right in the middle of some of the finest dog-walking territory in the whole of South London — and for good reason. The streets are leafy, the neighbours are friendly, and the parks are exceptional.

The big one, of course, is Brockwell Park. Tulse Hill sits right on its doorstep — and I mean that almost literally. The calm, rolling meadows on the Tulse Hill side of the park are some of the most pleasant and varied in the whole of Brockwell's 126 acres. This is the quieter, more spacious edge of the park, perfect for early morning walks, recall practice and building your dog's off-lead confidence away from the busier Herne Hill entrance. As your dog's training develops, we can gradually work towards the more demanding parts of the park — the main paths, the pond, the café area — building up their focus and composure in increasingly stimulating environments. Brockwell Park is also my office. I'm here almost every day, I know every corner of it, and I use it constantly as a progressive real-world training environment for my clients.

A short distance to the south, Belair Park in West Dulwich is a wonderful complementary space — a beautifully kept ornamental park set around a historic house and lake, quieter and more structured than Brockwell, with lovely paths and plenty of interesting terrain for dogs that need a more considered environment to build their confidence before tackling bigger, busier spaces. It's a park that doesn't always get the recognition it deserves, but for training purposes it's ideal.

Streatham Common, reachable from Tulse Hill in just a few minutes, adds another dimension entirely. A large, open common with grassland, woodland, and the beautiful formal garden of The Rookery, Streatham Common is part of the Capital Ring — one of London's great walking routes — and offers the kind of wide-open space that's brilliant for distance work, recall training and building a dog's stamina and confidence in open environments. On a busy weekend it draws a real mix of local dog walkers, joggers and families, making it an excellent place to work on your dog's composure around distraction.

I'm based on Leander Road in Brixton, a short walk or cycle from Tulse Hill, and I work with dog owners across the area regularly. My sessions begin at my training facility before progressing into real-world environments — including the parks and streets you actually use every day. Home visits are available across Tulse Hill for puppy set-ups, one-to-one sessions and behaviour consultations. I travel by bicycle so getting to you is never a problem.
