Dog Trainer in Brixton, South London

Brixton is where I'm based, where I work every day, and where I know the streets, the parks and the dog-walking community better than anywhere else. My home is on Leander Road, SW2 — a short walk from Brockwell Park — and if you're a Brixton dog owner, there's a good chance I've already crossed paths with you and your dog on the paths around the park.

Brixton is one of the most exciting, vibrant and culturally rich parts of London. It's also one of the most stimulating environments imaginable for a dog. The busy streets around Brixton Market, the constant activity around Windrush Square, the cyclists and pedestrians of Coldharbour Lane, the school runs, the street food, the music — it's a genuinely intense urban landscape that demands a calm, focused, well-trained dog if you're going to enjoy it properly. If your dog pulls, reacts to other dogs, won't walk on a loose lead or ignores you the moment something interesting appears, Brixton is the kind of area where those problems will make themselves felt every single day.

And then there's Brockwell Park. At 126 acres, this is one of London's finest urban parks — and it is my office. I'm here almost every day, training dogs, walking dogs in my care and working with clients in one of the most varied and rewarding park environments in the whole of South London. From the ornamental duck ponds and the historic Grade II* listed Brockwell Hall at the top of the hill, to the legendary Art Deco Lido, the walled garden, the wildflower meadows, the miniature railway and the BMX track — Brockwell Park has something for everyone. It attracts almost 4 million visits a year and has hosted extraordinary moments in its history: Rock Against Racism in 1978 with Elvis Costello, Madness and the Style Council in the 1980s, the Lambeth Country Show every summer since 1974. On a warm weekend it is absolutely buzzing — and that makes it one of the finest real-world training environments in London.

I know every corner of this park. I know where the distractions are heaviest, where the quietest training spots are, how to use the environment progressively — starting in the calmer meadows on the Tulse Hill side and building gradually towards the busiest paths, ponds and café areas as your dog's confidence and skills develop. Whether we're working on loose lead walking past other dogs on the main path, recall in the lower meadows, focus work near the duck ponds, or building calmness around the chaos of the Lambeth Country Show, Brockwell Park is the ultimate real-world training ground for a Brixton dog.

I'm a Level 4 certified canine behaviourist, experienced dog trainer and former psychotherapist. My approach is genuinely different to most trainers because I work with both ends of the lead — understanding the human side of the relationship as deeply as I understand the canine side. Most behavioural problems aren't just dog problems. They're relationship problems. And that's exactly what my combination of psychotherapy and canine behaviour expertise is built to address.

Sessions begin at my home in Brixton near Brockwell Park — a calm, secure environment ideal for the early stages of training. From there we move progressively into real-world environments, including Brockwell Park itself and the streets of Brixton, building the skills and confidence your dog needs for everyday life in one of London's most dynamic areas.

Home visits are available across Brixton for puppy set-ups, one-to-one training sessions and behaviour consultations. I travel by bicycle so getting to you is never a problem.
