Dulwich is one of South London's most beautiful and leafy areas — and for dog owners it has some truly outstanding green spaces. Dulwich Park is the jewel in the crown: a stunning 29-hectare Green Flag award-winning park with wide, well-maintained paths, a boating lake, beautiful gardens including the famous American Garden and its spectacular rhododendrons, and a dedicated off-lead perimeter path where dogs can roam freely. It's the kind of park that makes you feel genuinely lucky to live in South London.

Just beyond Dulwich Park lies Sydenham Hill Wood — one of London's most remarkable hidden gems. It's one of the last remaining areas of ancient deciduous forest in the entire capital, with some sections of woodland surviving over 8,000 years. For dogs that love to sniff, explore and wander through trees and undergrowth, it's an extraordinary place. That said, the dense woodland does require a dog with solid recall and reliable off-lead skills — which is where I come in.

Dulwich also sits conveniently close to Peckham Rye Park and Common, adding another vast green space to your options with its 113 acres of grassland, woodland, ornamental gardens and a Japanese garden.
